Music Annual Report, 2021
Brad Volland
The past year once again bore witness to many blessings and also unusual
challenges for St. Peter's Episcopal Church's music ministry. As you know, our
choir is small but wholly committed and dedicated to serving the church and
community by praising God through Christ the Son.
COVID19 disrupted our lives on many levels, including our church
worship and programs. I was made keenly aware of so many things that I take
for granted. We lost friends who died or moved away and gained new friends.
We lost loved ones, but God is seeing us through.
We were able to resume
worship inside our
beautiful church
building on Palm Sunday
and what a blessing that
was! Easter Day was
truly wonderful! The
choir gained two
wonderful new
members, Linda Kramer
and Larry Saylor. God is
good! The choir
presented two new
anthems this fall,
including a lovely
arrangement of "In the
Bleak Midwinter." We will soon be working on new anthems for Holy Week and
Easter.
Our sincere appreciation and thanks go to: (1) Helmut Linne von Berg for his
continued choir membership and for sharing his violin music with us;
(2) Larry Saylor for sharing his delightful guitar and vocals with us; and (3) Nancy
Long for sharing her lovely soprano voice with us; (4) Mary Peterman for her
beautiful flute music; and (5) Andy Cortez for his great trumpet playing. And, of
course, our beloved choir personnel for their commitment and dedication to our
music ministry. These wonderful people share their talents enthusiastically and
with love.
We are both grateful and most thankful for Mark W. Thompson and his staff, who
continue to offer their specialized talents in the maintenance of our pre-Civil War
pipe organ.
