Who are we ?

Although we are a group of people of various ages, of various races and nationalities, economic situations, educational levels, political persuasions, and varying ways of interpreting scripture and theology, we are united in our love for God, for one another and for our neighbors.

Education –Every Wednesday at 10AM we meet to study and to learn from one another as we share our varying viewpoints about the scriptures that will be heard in church on the following Sunday.  During this time we also pray for one another, and for those in our congregation and community who are sick, suffering, or in need.

We are supporting the Sacred Ground project of the Episcopal Church to combat systematic racism. In that capacity we have recently established a scholarship for minority students entering higher education.

In addition we have special studies during Lent and Advent which are conducted in the evening on Zoom.

Worship –Our worship each Sunday is shaped by the liturgies in The Book of Common Prayer.  We celebrate Holy Communion each week at our principal worship service at 11AM every Sunday morning.  We come together for special liturgies spread throughout the year, including Christmas Eve, Epiphany, and the Holy Week services. The children take a role in worship by serving as acolytes, gospel bearers, ushers, and greeters

Our doors are open to the community

The Village Dinner, served every second Wednesday for a reasonable price, is open to the community.   Make a reservation if you plan to attend.  Proceeds from the dinner over the years have provided thousands of dollars of money which goes to local, national and international projects that help people all over the world.

We participate in the United Thank Offering and support the Episcopal Relief Fund and at Christmas, local charities through our Episcopal Church men

The Village Harvest food distribution of fresh produce and meats, in conjunction with the Northern Neck Food Bank, is held on each third Wednesday of the month from 3-5PM, and is open to anyone in need of food.  This ministry benefits approximately 90 people in this area each month.

St Peter’s provides food each year for the community for the Port Royal Tree Lighting gathering in December.   The Rector’s Discretionary Fund provides financial assistance to help people with a variety of needs.

With the help of Caroline County Social Services, St Peter’s adopts families at both Thanksgiving and Christmas and provides meals and gifts based on the needs of the families.    St Peter’s also belongs to CERVE, a county organization that also provides financial assistance.  Our yearly concert series, free to the public and brings a variety of music to Caroline County.

Mission

We have established a mission in Jamaica supporting Victoria Primary School near Linstead in the farming community of Victoria. In 2021, we distributed school supplies and health related supplies to 300 students. Here is an article from the trip. Going forward the church has provided donations.
