Lent is a time to remember loved ones. Please consider a gift in the name of your loved ones to our newly revised Endowment Fund. Just write in the memo of your check "Endowment Fund" and it will join this reinvigorated fund.
These funds help the Church finance projects that our operating budget would not allow including
A. Longer term expenses of the Church (including capital acquisitions, improvements, renovations and replacements). Often several years are required to cover these. Fund invested generally have their earnings reinvested increasing the equity and thus the return in the next year.
B. Outreach ministries
Lent is not just for giving up but also for building up.
Want to take the next step? Leave St. Peter’s a bequest or gift in your will. If you have a will and want to provide a lasting gift to St. Peter’s, you do not have to rewrite your will, but simply add an addition, called a “codicil”. Here is an example – “I (your name) amend my last will and testament, executed on the ____ day of ______ in the year _____, as follows. I direct all provisions of that will to remain in effect, but direct that in addition, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 399, Port Royal, VA 22535 shall receive (describe the bequest) to be used for mission and ministry.” You can include a dollar amount, a percentage of your residual estate or even a specific asset. It’s very simple and your attorney can draw it up quickly. And a bequest is deductible from the value of your estate for tax purposes.
