Announcements
Welcome to St. Peter’s! Our hope is that you will find God’s love present with you in this place and that you will return here often.
Good Friday
This service continues our worship through the Triduum, the last three days of Holy Week. This service begins and ends in silence. Tonight we continue the worship that we began last night at the Maundy Thursday service. Since the fourth century, Christians have commemorated the crucifixion of our Lord and Savior on this day. Our liturgy tonight consists of The Liturgy of the Word, The Solemn Collects, and the Veneration of the Cross.
During the Musical Meditation please feel free to come forward and pray at the altar rail. You may take a taper from the candle box in front of the altar and offer a prayer as you place your candle in the container at the foot of the cross.
Thanks be to God for the beautifully crafted cross used in our service tonight, made and given for the glory of God by Helmut Linne von Berg. Thanksgivings to every member of the choir, all of whom have worked so hard to provide meaningful Holy Week music.
The Good Friday Offering
Since 1922, Episcopalians have supported the ministries of the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East through the Good Friday Offering. Through the work of the Episcopal dioceses in the Middle East, Christians maintain a peacemaking and stabilizing presence in the region, serving their neighbors regardless of faith background. The offering plates are at the back of the church by the doors. Make your checks to St Peter’s with Good Friday Offering in the memo line.
