This week will feature a series of 3 posts on the altarpiece or as we affectionately call them, the "tablets. " In reality the tablets are only one part of the altarpiece. This is the first post, a video and a general tour of the altarpiece.
This Video is backed by a Celtic version of "Be Thou My Vision."
The altarpiece provides both the basic documents of our faith (Ten Commandments, Apostle’s Creed, Lord’s Prayer) and is an artistic achievement in itself. It is the background of all of our services, visually and in content.
The video provides a closeup view of the Altarpiece in about 3 1/2 minutes. Sit back and enjoy and take in the beauty of the Altarpiece.
L. Cleo Mullins, the lead conservator, will be at St. Peter’s at the 11am service on November 29 to take your questions on the restoration process. The next video will feature the current condition.
