Jesus is the decisive revelation of God as it can be seen human life

Revelation – Bible and Jesus.  Orthodox place Jesus above Bible

2 different realities
 

  1.  Pre-Easter Jesus

a. Flesh and blood 1st Century, Galilean Jew peasant 110 lb, 5’1:

b. Grew in a peasant village and was executed 30 AD.

c. Figure of past – dead and gone, not brought back to life
d.  Like us  -Not  hybrid – human and divine  But remarkable human being

e. Experience God as mystic. Knew God. Filled with spirit of God

f.  Healer

g  Wisdom teacher  taught way and path

h.prophet of Kingdom of God. Announced it, radical critic of domination system. Executed because of it.

i focal points

-The Way – Path to be followed, way of life and path of centering more deeply with God. Personal Transformation

-Kingdom of God – Transformation of world. Not about an after life but for this life.  God’s dream for the earth. A world of justice (Economic justice everybody should have enough as result things put together) and non-violence and peace

j. Discloses what can be seen of God in human life

2. Post Easter Jesus

a. what Jesus became after death in Christian experience, thought, language and tradition

b      Risen Christ.  Is one with God and has all qualities God- spiritual,    

c. Can be experienced anywhere.

Body of Christ – T. De Chardin

d.    Divine reality – Jesus has becomes one of name of God.

Experience of Jesus 10-20% of people.

e      Expression of what the followers of Jesus even to this day continued to experience and know of him after him death. Truth of Easter – followers experiences what known of him after his death.
 

f       Is an expression of the risen Christ

g.      Is God seen the face of Jesus
