We served 157 people, the exact same number as April for May’s Village Harvest food distribution. However,slightly less food was available – 1,429 pounds vs. 1,559 in April. People come from Port Royal, other places in Caroline county, King George, Montross and Westmoreland.
Growth in this ministry continues. For the first 5 months, 692 people have been served compared to 547 for the same period a year ago, representing growth of 27%.
Food distributed is up by a greater amount – 29%. This month we distributed 885 pounds of produce, 245 pounds meat,36 pounds of spices and 263 pounds of canned goods. Foodstuff included apples, carrots, potatoes, peppers, onions, tomatoes, assorted canned vegetables, spices, some paper goods, some mac and cheese, and chickens
