We had 30 people at Gospel on the River at the Reynolds pavilion in Portabago Bay, slightly down from last year at 35. Social hour was the for the first 45 minutes.  Beer and wines were standard fare along with Nancy’s wonderful fish, Andrea’s bread, mini casseroles, finger food, Cherry’s cookies and ham sandwiches.

Last year Helmut wrote a history of the event. It likely goes back to 2007 where as Helmut writes "From our residence, we see the river front improvement here at Portobago. The Lord has created this beautiful spot for us. So, why not thank him and praise him right there in the midst of his beautiful creation. "

The music was the same from last year. All pieces were covered in at least two verses.  Denise Symonds played the piano with Helmut on violin. Marilyn Newman played harp during the social hour.  The weather was fair with puffy clouds surrounded by bright sunshine on this early fall day.  A wonderful way to end Sunday along the beautiful Rappahannock!

This is Helmut’s favorite piece from Gospel on the River – "I Love to Tell the Story":
