August 5, 2013

Present: Phyllis Carpenter, Elizabeth Heimbach, Catherine Hicks, Eunice Key, Andrea Pogue, Barbara Wisdom

Absent: Linda Beck, Mary Ann Betchy, Carolyn Duke, Cindy Fields, Becky Fisher, Terri Harrison

Barbara opened the meeting with a prayer and an inspirational reading.

Rector’s Report:

Catherine said that Vacation Bible School is scheduled for August 12-15. She will lead a discussion of the book of Galatians for adults. Everyone is invited!

On Saturday, September 28, we will meet at 9:00 for a Bread Making Retreat. We will learn how to make bread and watch a movie while it is rising.

On Tuesday, October 22, the singing group, The Thirteen, will give a concert at St. Peter’s. Andrea, Phyllis, Barbara, and Elizabeth will host members of the group. St. Asaph’s is providing $500 of the $2400 required.

Old Business:

The ice cream social at the nursing home in Bowling Green was a success, and Eunice and Catherine recently went to visit one of the ladies who had been in the audience. Eunice brought her a St. Peter’s mug with flowers.

Barbara mentioned that the group had prepared a care package for a local lady and a basket for Oliver Fortune who was recovering from surgery.

New Business:

Eunice showed the group the photograph of St. Peter’s that the daytime ECW is planning to use to create a Christmas ornament. She is hoping to have the ornaments ready for the Harvest Festival in Bowling Green on October 19.

The community dinner will be held at the rectory on Friday, August 16 at 6:00. The daytime ECW will provide the drinks, the chips, and a crock pot of beans. Barbara will make another crock pot of beans, and will find out whether Kermit will donate 3 watermelons. Boyd will grill the hotdogs.

Barbara will check with check with Parks and Recreation to learn the date of the December tree lighting event. We would like to help as we did last year.

We will also discuss at the next meeting the possibility of preparing lunches next summer for local school children.

Our next meeting will be Sept. 9 at 6:00.
