Night ECW Minutes
Sept. 12, 2011
Present: Cindy Fields, Barbara Wisdom, Linda Beck, Phyllis Sue Carpenter, Terri Harrison, Elizabeth Heimbach; Absent: Carolyn Duke, Catherine Hicks
Opening:
Cindy read an inspirational poem. We dispensed with the minutes of the last meeting because no one had a copy.
Old Business:
Community Dinner:
Barbara is going to write up a report about the dinner which was held on Sept.3. We all agreed that it had been a success, but next year, we plan to give out the school supplies after dinner. We hope that everyone will stay and eat together. Phyllis Sue suggested that it would be nice to get contact information from each family so that we could stay in touch. We thought that it would work better to have the supplies spread out on tables, rather than pre-packing them in backpacks.
Cookbooks:
Barbara reported that she has supplied the Caroline County Welcome Center and the Bowling Green Museum with copies. All expenses have been met so any further sales will be profit.
New Business:
Oct. 15 = Bowling Green Harvest Festival
We should contribute baked goods and jewelry.
Oct. 17 = our next meeting
We should bring old eye glasses, cell phones, and chargers which can be given to the Lions Club and other organizations.
Oct. 29 = ECW Fall Festival
Barbara is going to the next day time ECW meeting and will find out how we can help. She will also find out about a get together for both ECW groups.
Nov. 12 = next community dinner:
Menu = spaghetti, salad, cupcakes
Stanley and Barbara will cook. We will collect mittens, scarves, and socks to give away at the dinner.
December
We plan to collect toiletries and prizes for games for the Bowling Green Nursing Home. We could also prepare little bags of grapes for the residents.
Closing:
The meeting ended with the Lord’s Prayer. Then Cindy served delicious tiramisu and we scraped the wax from the candle holders used at the evening service on September 11.
