Parish Life at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church

Ministries

ECW, Episcopal Church Women, continues a long tradition of service to the parish, the community and beyond. The group meets on the third Wednesday of each month, 2pm at the parish house.  They sponsor the popular Village Dinners on the first Wednesday of each month. A second group, the Evening ECW meets in the evening.

ECM, Episcopal Church Men, meets on the second Sat. of the month at 8:30pm at Horne’s and is involved in projects around the Church and community.

The Fellowship Committee sponsors the Fellowship Dinners held in the spring and fall, Village Dinners on the first Wednesday of

every month, and Coffee Hour on the first Sunday of the month following the 11AM service.

The Outreach Committee conducts various activities, including food distribution to Caroline Social Services, Community Dinners and a Jail Ministry. We also recently went on a mission trip to Staten Island.

Worship and Education

Members of the Altar Guild prepare the church for all worship services. They maintain the linens, arrange flowers, refill candles, polish the brass, and prepare the altar for worship each Sunday.

Acolytes light the altar candles, carry the crucifix and the Gospel book, and serve at the altar.

Lectors read the scriptures each Sunday.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers distribute the wine to the parishioners during communion.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors take communion to those who are homebound and cannot attend church services.

Greeters pass out bulletins in the front of the church and direct people to Communion.

The Choir participates enthusiastically in singing both hymns and responses and special pieces during the Offertory.

Christian Education – Children meet on the 2nd floor of the Parish House and Adults on the main floor, Sundays, 9:45am.

Children’s Group – Children meet each Wednesday at 4:45pm for various activities, except for the first Wednesday of the month.

Ecumenical Bible Study meets 10am Wednesday in the Parish House and studies the weekly lectionary.
