Angel Corbels
There are six angel corbels, each with an angel holding a
shield on it, along the lower edge of the altarpiece.
They are plaster casts, possibly with a wooden substrate
or armature and/or wooden additions.
Each corbel has been painted white, but may have
been polychromed or silver gilt. Each has been
re-painted with brass-toned metallic paint.
The painted surface is cracking and cupping and
quite unattractive. There are numerous areas of
lost surface.
