ECM Report

Johnny Davis

  • The men of St. Peter’s Church met the 2nd Friday of each month at 7am at Horne’s Restaurant. Breakfast was ordered and a devotional was read.  A discussion followed of what the devotional meant to each person.  Later there was discussion about what we need to do in our community to help those less fortunate than us and what we think is important.
  • Giving Thanksgiving meals to ten families in Port Royal and Bowling Green was our main objective of the year. Food for a full meal was purchased by Helmut Linne von Berg and Johnny Davis and delivered to each family suggested by Social Services the day before Thanksgiving.  It was much appreciated.
  • Delivering venison from Hunters for the Hungry to Social Services in Bowling Green for distribution by them to needy families was another important goal of the ECM.  Some of the deer Johnny’s hunt club harvested were part of the venison that was  packaged and kept at Upper Essex Baptist Church until needed.  Johnny picked up venison three times this year—in February, October and December.  The total amounted to 1,250 lbs.
